Our Story

Beginnings

Trattoria Magnetti is owned and run by brothers Sean and Marco Magnetti.

Originally setup by their parents Sergio and Mary Magnetti on Cross street in 1989, the business then moved to Quay street in 1994. It was then called “Pasta Mista”- Mixed Pasta as they made all their own fresh pasta, a tradition which is still in place today.

It was a humble beginning with a simple menu that Mary had learned from Sergio’s Italian Aunts on various holiday trips to Italy. Some recipies from the very first menu board in 1989 are still on our menu today!

Pasta

The Magnetti Family hold a very special tradition in pasta making. It started in 1987 when Sergio Magnetti bought a small pasta machine in Italy to make fresh pasta in Ireland. From there Mary and Sergio supplied some small deli shops with cannelloni and ravioli before opening their own restaurant in 1989. Each week they would make all the tagliatelle and ravioli fresh and it grew from there even to supplying the large retailers. Today Sean and Marco stay true to the tradition with a unique selection of Fresh and filled pasta produced each week.

“We believe that fresh pasta delivers the best texture and cook quality that you can offer in a restaurant”. - Sean and Marco
